Come in. Sit down. How are you? Emma's been seeing Darren. She thinks she's in love. Her boss thinks she's in breach of contract. The situation needs to be resolved.

Contractions began as a short, female two-hander, performed for BBC Radio 4, entitled 'Love Contract', before its premiere staging in 2008 at London’s Royal Court. This dark comedy is Bartlett’s response to the early twentieth century phenomena in which we saw the ‘Personnel Department’ become ‘Human Resources’ who, depending on one’s opinion of course, have had an increasing, and some have argued negative, impact on employer/employee relations ever since.

In this brand new and highly creative production, fourteen international actors perform the two parts.
