When down on his luck conman, Khlestakov, is mistakenly identified as a Government Official, sent to inspect a small town, the Mayor and other town authorities are terrified at the prospect of their darker dealings being brought to light. In a desperate attempt to hide their greed and corruption, those in power set about showing the stranger the greatest hospitality ever known in an attempt to blinker his findings, but who will see through the other's lies first?
