In an unnamed totalitarian state, rebels are offered a choice: execution, or working in Zone 91. The choice seems obvious. But there are rumours about Zone 91: its very air can wither plants and dissolve skin. Yet when the dissidents arrive they find an idyllic landscape, full of healthy, happy people. And everything seems perfect. At least…for a while.
Philip Ridley's new play, commissioned by East 15 Acting School's BA Acting course, is a startling, feverishly imaginative, often darkly comic exploration of memory, community, and the stories we create in order to survive.
