1917. Louise Bryant and John “Jack” Reed are two radical American journalists, and lovers, desperate to make their mark on the literary world. Both travel to Russia to report on the revolution there and publish acclaimed books about that seismic event. But Jack’s commitment to the Communist cause draws him ever closer to the Russian political scene, away from his ideals and into the realities of political compromise.
