THE CYCLOPS OF EAST LONDON
Directed by Mark Diaz
Euripides’ Cyclops crashes into East London: immersive, wine-fueled, Bacchanalian romp of comedy, puppetry, & madness!
Wine-filled Greek Comedy Theatre takes over Broadway Market, Hackney! Euripides’ Cyclops is reimagined as an East London Bacchanalian pub romp: a story of decadence and assimilation, and what happens when one is eaten alive by the world around them? Using the guise of East London, probing migrant culture-- Odysseus washes ashore in Hackney, encountering a debauched band of satyrs, the monstrous one-eyed Cyclops, and brings far too much wine. Blending puppetry, physical theatre, audience immersion and high-octane comedy, The Cyclops of East London asks what we sacrifice to belong, what happens when appetite consumes us, and how/if we come out on the other side.
The Cyclops of East London is performed as part of
the MFA Directing Season, 2026.
