Agamemnon is dead. The dead are not supposed to be able to harm anyone. And yet he does.
Clytemnestra is in a long slumber that no one knows the cause for or how to wake her. In a desperate attempt to save her mother, Electra ventures outside to her father’s grave and leaves an offering to his ghost. When her mother finally wakes, not everything is back to normal. Soon Mother and Daughter are plagued with visions and strange illnesses. Agamemnon has returned from the grave. Electra soon realises that the only way to be rid of her father may be to end the life of the person she loves the most. Her mother.
The Bough Breaks is performed as part of the
MFA Directing Season, 2024.
