Dr Alex Lyons

Biography

Alex Lyons is a neuroqueer, multidisciplinary artist and academic whose work explores gender, sexuality and body politics in contemporary performance. She studied her MA at Queen Mary University and holds a PhD from East 15 Acting School, University of Essex, where she is also a Tutor. Informed by queer and feminist theory, her work specialises in contemporary performance as a tool for sparking discussions around taboo bodily topics. In particular, Alexs work analyses the ways in which performances of the vulva/vagina can reframe, interrogate, expose or challenge patriarchal constructs surrounding bodies.
