Dr Chris Main, Deputy Head of BA Acting and Stage Combat and Assistant Head of Contextual Studies

Chris Main is from the USA.

Chris Main holds an MA in Theatre Practice and a PhD in Elizabethan/Jacobean Theatre from Exeter University. He is a Certified Teacher of stage combat with the BASSC, a fight examiner for Stage Combat Germany and holds a black belt in Aikido

He has run workshops for The Crucible (Sheffield), Cambridge Arts Theatre, Stephen Joseph Theatre, BBC, Northcott Theatre (Exeter), The Society of American Fight Directors, Exeter and Leeds City Council, and the Royal Armouries. 

Chris has worked on shows for the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Fairgame Theatre Company, Foursight Theatre Company, The English Theatre in Frankfurt, National Youth Theatre, British Touring Shakespeare, Finborough Theatre, and was Assistant FD on the feature film, Faintheart.  He appeared as a performer in Conquest, a series for the History Channel. Recently, he has directed several shows for East 15 – including a Martin Lynch premier and a number of productions in association with the Royal Armouries that played at the Tower of London.
