Andrea Brooks is from the UK.
Andrea Brooks is Artistic Director of Zygo Art, an award-winning theatre and arts company based in Brighton and working in the UK and internationally, most recently in Tbilisi, Georgia. Zygo's most recent production The Desire Tree was co-produced with Oxford Playhouse and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford, and the Tumanishvili Theatre, Tbilisi, with actors from Georgia and the UK. Zygo presented a double bill of plays by Shaun Prendergast at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, during the Brighton Festival 2005. One of these, The True History of Julia Patrana, the Ugliest Woman in the World, was performed in total blackout and given five stars by The Guardian and awarded Time Out Critic's Choice Of The Year. It also toured the UK and the North of Ireland. Prior to this, Zygo presented the first professional production of The Dog Beneath The Skin by WH Auden and Christopher Isherwood at BAC and at venues in the south east.
Andrea trained at Drama Centre, London, with Christopher Fettes and Yat Malmgren. There she studied dance with Imogen Claire and Jane Darling. Her productions have been seen at BAC, Riverside Studios, Lilian Bayliss Studio Sadler's Wells and in theatres across the UK, Italy, Lithuania and Georgia. Andrea also works freelance as a director and director/tutor. She is an Associate Artist at BAC, London, and Zygo is an Associate Company of Theatre Royal, Brighton.
