Screening successes for MA Filmmaking students at East 15

Now reaching the conclusion of its first year as a fully operational Postgraduate course at East 15, students from the MA Filmmaking programme have already been enjoying success in having their work publicly screened.

Kate Shenton's short film "Bon Appetit" will be screened at Film 4 Fright Fest @ The Empire Cinema, Leicester Square, 29th August 2010 @ 1pm
Kate was overjoyed at receiving the message; "From among the many hundreds of submissions this year I take great pleasure in informing you that your short film has been selected to take part in this years International Short Film Showcase event. The showcase will take place at The Empire Cinema, Leicester Square screen One - the largest cinema screen in the UK with an audience capacity of 1300 people."

In addition to Kate’s individual success, all MA Filmmaking students' shorts were screened at The Southend Film Festival in May.

The follow-up letter from Paul Cotgrove, Festival Director, was an affirmation of the screening’s success: "I just wanted to thank you again for all your hard work in putting together the Short Films At East 15 evening during the Southend-on-Sea film festival. I would definitely love you to hold a similar event as part of next years festival, so if this is of interest to you as well, please put it in your diary now for next year."

Other individual screening successes last month included Kate Shenton's film "Zumbo" and Panprae Bunyapukkr's film "Yellow", both screened at The Bishop's Stortford Film Festival http://www.hertsandessexobserver.co.uk/Bishops-Stortford/Bishops-Stortford-set-for-inaugural-film-festival.htm

Meanwhile, Goncalo Nascimento's film, "White" was screened at TAP, Southend on Sea http://idea13.org/lfs/

Head of MA Filmmaking, Vito Rocco, explained; “this is really what all of our students aspire to. For them to be gaining recognition and enjoying public screenings of their works before they have even graduated is a testament to both their talent and to the hard work that the Filmmaking teaching team have put into creating such a dynamic course"
