East 15 Graduate cast in Disney epic
Mehran Armando, one of the 2009 graduates of the Acting and Stage Combat
course at East 15 Acting School, has begun filming on the new Disney epic,
John Carter of Mars
Directed by Andrew Stanton (writing and directing credits include Finding
Nemo and WALL-E) and starring Taylor Kitsch as Carter, with Lynn
Collins, William Dafoe and Dominic West, the film is based on the first
Edgar Rice Burroughs's story to feature John Carter, A Princess of Mars.
The original story was serialised from 1912 and first published as a novel
in 1917. Carter is an American Civil War veteran who goes to sleep in a cave
after being chased by Apache Indians and wakes up on Mars.
Speaking of the opportunity to be cast in a speaking part, as a spaceship
navigator in what will surely be a block-buster film, Mehran explained;
“I’ve worked steadily since graduating from East 15, mainly working on
commercials and music videos, but this is a fantastic opportunity to take my
career to another level. It’s not only a great opportunity to be given
within six months of graduation, but it’s also paid off my student loan in a
single job, and that’s a huge relief!”
