Stage Combat Students Battle it out in Fashion Show

This year, students from East 15's Foundation/BA Special Performance Skills (Stage Combat) have been invited perform at Barts and the London Medical School Annual Charity Fashion Show - their first performance outside of East 15. The students will be performing to an expected audience of 1,000 at Heaven Nightclub in London, on Tuesday 27 February.

The students have drawn upon various skills which they study as part of the curriculum of this unique programme and have devised some sequences themselves, working under the direction of their gymnastics coach Nicholas Blanton, and their programme leaders. The scheme is headed by Nicholas Hall and Chris Main who are respectively, the Chairman of the British Academy of Dramatic Combat and the Vice President of the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat - the country's leading organisations for the training of stage combat teachers.

Students performing are Suzi Appleby, Lianne Bowley, Stephanie Cowton, Julen DeRetuerto, Katherine Fielder, Nicola Ford, Matt Gardner, Keith George, Joseph Golby, Richard Hay, Alex Keeling, Helen Mansfield, James Matthews, Michelle Noble, Stevie Peart and Daniel Winson.

Each year a group of medical students from Barts and the London Hospitals organise a charity fashion show dedicated to raising money for local charities including The British Lung Foundation, Macmillan Nurses and The Leonard Cheshire Trust. The show will include catwalks featuring a wide variety of current British fashion modelled by dedicated students and professionally choreographed dances. In the past, clothes have been kindly loaned by many designers including All Saints, Paul Smith, and Alexander McQueen. In addition, the show has been hosted by celebrities such as Boy George, Dane Bowers, Fearne Cotton and Gabby Logan. Doors open at 7.30pm until 2am.

All proceeds from this show will go to the British Lung Foundation. To support this event, please contact Miss Golshan Farsimadan on e-mail: blfashion; add @hotmail.co.uk to create full e-mail address
