University of Essex
East 15 Acting School became part of the University of Essex on 1 September 2000. Since then, students at East 15 are also University of Essex students and receive University of Essex degrees.
The University of Essex is one of the UK's leading academic institutions, rated tenth nationally for research excellence, with an international reputation for the quality of its teaching.
Established in 1964, the University's Colchester Campus is situated in an attractive 200-acre parkland estate on the outskirts of Britain's oldest recorded town, Colchester. Trains from Colchester to central London take just 45 minutes and there is easy access to coast and countryside, including the area of outstanding natural beauty known as "Constable Country" after the famous landscape artist, John Constable.
The University also has a new Southend Campus in the heart of Southend-on-Sea, which is situated in south Essex. This state-of-the-art campus, on the High Street and adjacent to the train station where journey times to London are just 50 minutes, is home to students on some East 15 programmes and to students studying within the University's School of Entrepreneurship and Business.
The University has a student population of over 7,000 full-time students, split between the social sciences, science and engineering, law and humanities, with a particularly large postgraduate population. Essex is also one of the UK's most international universities, with students from more than 135 countries represented.
